Playground Professionals

Playground Professionals-a play resource company

Playground Professionals is a limited liability company established by Curtis Stoddard in the winter of 2009.  Curtis began his playground career in the early 80s. The CPSC public playground safety guidelines had just been published. He wanted to learn all he could about the play and playground industries, but had a hard time finding information. Of course, this was before the internet, and it was tough to get books or articles about playgrounds. So Curtis began collecting everything he could about playgrounds. We have dozens of books, hundreds of documents, and scores of catalogs. We have been involved with many manufacturers, and we belong to the consumer products section of ASTM International. We are members of the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association, the International Playground Contractors Association, the National Recreation and Park Association, and a few others. We like to gather information, and now we have found a way to share it.

Our company owns the website playgroundprofessionals.com. Here we house the Playground Magazine, Play and Playground Encyclopedia, Playground Professionals directories, and Playground Professionals news page. Our goal is to be on the cutting edge of play resources and information. We are the “ONE STOP SITE FOR ALL PLAY RELATED RESOUCES AND INFORMATION”.

Playground Magazine

Playground Magazine started as an idea 12 years ago.  It was developed with a focus on play and playground issues, problems, play equipment, health and safety, design, manufacturing, construction process, organization and companies. While it comes out quarterly, it does not lack in providing the most updated information on all things play.  The magazine can still be received in print for a yearly subscription; however, in the last year we have added an online version for free.  At Playground Magazine, we are always “thinking today about tomorrow’s play”.

Play and Playground Encyclopedia

The Play & Playground Encyclopedia is a wonderful resource for plan and playground information.  Designed to cover a broad range of topics, this encyclopedia offers valuable information about organizations, companies, and people who have contributed to the play and playground industries as well as listings about important issues regarding play, safety, and playground construction.  It is our hope you will find The Play & Playground Encyclopedia a valuable resource you will use often.

Playground Professionals Directories

The directories are designed to promote manufacturers and also local playground professionals (hence the name of the company). The Manufacturer’s section lists over 200 playground equipment manufacturers, surfacing, site furnishings, athletic equipment, shelters, and toy manufacturers. It also offers a selection of over 600 local playground professionals, such as sales representatives, contractors, architects, consultants, and maintenance companies.

Playground Professionals News Page

The Playground Professionals news page is designed to provide an overall current view of play and related topics. PGP gathers articles and press releases from contributors about play, playgrounds, and related information. We sort and categorize the articles and post them on our website.
