Playworld

Playworld Systems's picture

Our family first opened its doors 60 years ago in 1952 as QE Manufacturing Company, producing precision machine parts in central Pennsylvania. Seven years later, we began supplying products to other playground companies. As our reputation as a quality supplier grew, so did our passion for play.

Playworld is born
In 1971, we introduced our own brand of commercial playground equipment and became Playworld. We've spent the last 40+ years refining the world's best play experiences for you, one playground at a time. Today we create commercial play and fitness equipment for people of all ages and all abilities.

Family owned & proudly made in the U.S.A.
We're the ONLY multi-generation, family-owned and operated manufacturer of fitness and playground equipment that's made in the U.S.A. We answer to you - our customers - not stockholders, like many of our competitors do.

Playworld products are made in the U.S.A., in our central Pennsylvania manufacturing facility, from domestic and foreign content. Only a few parts are purchased from trusted international suppliers:

  • Ropes used in our play equipment are manufactured in Germany by Berliner Selifabrik.
  • Some miscellaneous hardware and mechanisms are made in modern factories in Germany and China, which are purchased through U.S. companies.

Taking play around the world
Believing that play is a fundamental right of all people we've set out to bring play to communities around the world. Through our office in Paris, France, we manage a network of global representatives throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America.

Three generations of local pride
Though Playworld is global in size, we remain loyal to our roots. Now in our third generation of family ownership, we're still headquartered in central Pennsylvania. The average employee tenure is over 10 years. And 95% of our suppliers are within driving distance of our facilities. In this way, we can continue to give back, with rewarding jobs and economic opportunities for the communities and families that have always supported us.
