Eagle Creek to open a playground in the treetops

Coming soon to Eagle Creek Park: five zip lines, two Tarzan swings and a series of rope ladders, bridges, swings and trapezes.

Go Ape, a treetop adventure company founded in the United Kingdom in 2002, is starting this month to create the company's third adventure course in the United States on 6 acres in the Northwestside park in cooperation with Indy Parks. The other U.S. locations are in Rockville, Md., and Williamsburg, Va.

The eco-educational outdoor experience, expected to be open by June, will offer visitors two to three hours of outdoor fun and exercise while they navigate through the treetops about 40 feet above the ground, according to a Go Ape news release.

Participants will be equipped with harnesses, pulleys and carabiners and will receive a 30-minute training session.

"We are committed to providing our residents with top-notch park services and amenities, and Go Ape is a great addition to our existing activities," said John Williams, Indy Parks director.
