CBD oils for kids

Hate it or love it, but you can’t ignore the current buzz around cannabis and CBD products. People from different walks of life currently rely on CBD in various forms for their health benefits. However, CBD for kids is rapidly gaining popularity due to specific ways it helps children deal with some significant health conditions.

Children are vulnerable to different health conditions that potentially affect their mental and physical wellbeing. For instance, chronic pain can be unbearable at such tender ages. Although research to support CBD oil for children is still ongoing, there's enough evidence to suggest five main ways CBD oil can help your children deal with different health conditions.

CBD Oil For Kids

Due to its close association with THC, many parents don’t fancy giving CBD to their kids. And understandably so, because THC can get you high. Therefore purchasing edibles canada requires some research and due diligence. But though CBD is readily found in both marijuana and hemp plants, these two plants differ in the levels of cannabinoids they contain.

Irrespective of which plant you derive CBD from, it may contain some THC, though hemp-derived CBD has a lower probability of THC content. Nevertheless, parents can minimize the chances of giving their children THC by insisting on hemp-derived CBD isolates instead of full-spectrum CBD.

5 Effective Uses of CBD Oils For Kids

Epilepsy

Though CBD has proven effective against many conditions in kids, the Food and Drug Administration has approved it for one condition only, and this condition is Epilepsy in children. To be specific, the CBD-based medication approved by the FDA is Epidiolex. Likewise, many clinical studies support CBD oil’s effectiveness in treating intractable epilepsy in children and adolescents.

In research conducted by five pediatric clinics in Israel, medical cannabis oil was used to treat epilepsy symptoms in children. The research observed significantly positive results on seizure load in test subjects. About 89% of children noticed a reduction in the frequency of seizures.;

Anxiety

Anxiety and stress are quite common among children these days. The negative feelings of anxiety can affect kids in different ways, like affecting their academic performance. In this regard, there have been studies that suggest that CBD can help deal with anxiety.

According to a study conducted in 2010, CBD can help reduce social anxiety for persons dealing with a social anxiety disorder (SAD). Participants of this study received brain scans, and observations made in these scans indicate differences in blood flow to specific brain regions associated with feelings of anxiety.

In the study, CBD improved the moods of participants and changed how their brain dealt with anxiety.

Pain

Many children have to endure chronic pain due to various health conditions. Most of these kids rely on pharmaceutical pain killers to deal with their pain. However, prolonged use of these drugs comes with several side effects. CBD oil offers a more natural means of pain relief.

Many old civilizations have relied on cannabis to treat pain, and you can find proof of this in the publications of Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research. CBD oil may prove effective for your child by helping reduce inflammations and improve their sleep.

Autism

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) findings in 2020, about 1 in 54 children in the U.S have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Many children dealing with Autism find it challenging to interact with others and exhibit unusual behavior such as ritualistic movements.

The symptoms range from mild to severe, and doctors are still investigating the cause of autism, though many believe genetics and the environment are key factors. At present, there are no remedies for autism. However, CBD oil has gained popularity as a relatively effective treatment, aside from other interventions such as speech therapy.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

ADHD is a condition common both in children and adults. However, it can be quite challenging to notice in children. But if you observe your child constantly having difficulties with focus, very impulsive, and hyperactive, you might need to consider some remedies.

Though many believe ADHD isn’t a real health condition, it’s been proven to be caused by differences in specific parts of the human brain. And though there is scientific proof that CBD oil works, many anecdotal reports by CBD users indicate that it’s effective for managing ADHD symptoms.

Conclusion

Overall, the right dose of CBD oil is effective, safe, and reliable for children despite the lack of scientific research and evidence. However, it’s best to consult an expert before you start giving CBD to your kids. Start small and critically observe how your kids react.
