The 5th of October is World Teachers’ Day, which celebrates the pivotal role of teachers in the development and education of children. Teachers serve as catalysts for growth as a child enters into greater society, building upon the nurture of a child’s family or primary caregiver.  In many nations, however, teachers are challenged by difficult socioeconomic conditions, poor learning environments, diminishing resources, and low wages. Yet beyond guiding their students toward their learning goals, they increasingly have to address the negative effects of a changing society within their classrooms.

The Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) is dedicated to the professional growth of teachers and, therefore, celebrates the importance of teachers’ contributions on World Teachers’ Day. ACEI takes a stand for teachers and joins in the call for global support of those professionals who are committed to the needs of children.
