Alternative Materials for Playground Equipment

Alternative Materials for Playground Equipment

Getting kids outside for playtime is a crucial element to raising them. Creating healthy habits for your children help them not only develop motor skills but also meet new friends and try new things. The playground is a great place to occupy children and help them build those motor skills. But what can you use as alternative materials for playground equipment? Keep reading for substitutes that won’t break the bank.

Rope Ladder

Rope ladders are easy to create, and they’re fun alternatives to regular ladders. Children will love the extra challenge of getting up the ladder. Secure it to any part of your playground structure for an additional way to go up and down.

Log Balance Beam

You don’t usually see balance beams on playgrounds, which is why this idea is so great! You’ll have a unique playground in the neighborhood that every child will want to come to play on. A long wooden log cut in half lengthwise creates a flat surface that mimics a balance beam.

Hammocks and Nets

A few fun components to incorporate into your playground are hammocks or nets. String up the contraption in the playground base, and kids will have fun crawling around on the wobbly surface.

Tire Swings

This alternative material for playground equipment is an excellent substitute for regular swings. Attach heavy-duty ropes to some old tires to create swings. Multiple kids can fit around the tire swing and have the time of their lives being pushed into the air.

Treehouse Base

If you want to elevate your playground to the next level, pick a large tree to build a treehouse around. You can even attach every material listed above to the treehouse to make your very own DIY playground. Your child will love all the remarkable aspects of their new playground.
