7 Easy And Fun Exercises For School Kids To Keep Them Healthy

7 Easy And Fun Exercises For School Kids To Keep Them Healthy

It is no longer news that the more you partake in exercises, the more you stay fit and healthy. Activities that get kids up and busy are good for their overall well-being. They help school children improve their cardiorespiratory fitness, build strong bones, strengthen their muscles, and control their weight. Exercises also help reduce the risk of developing health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Here are some easy and fun exercises for kids.

Gym activities

Encouraging school kids to hit the gym is a healthy practice, It helps their muscles develop and keeps them physically and mentally fit. Parents need to join in to make the activity more fun for the kids. They could even have their neighbors or friends over for these activities. You need to note however that in getting the gym equipment for home use, the children need to be considered. This equipment should be suitable for the kids. Gyming also requires eating healthy so it is a necessary part of the exercises.

Crab walks

Crab walk is an interesting physical exercise that strengthens the back, shoulders, and arms. It is easy to carry out. You can have your kids sit on the floor with their feet in front of them and their hands behind them. Then, they lift their buttocks off the floor and move about using their hands and feet just like the way crabs move around. You can even make it more fun by balancing some small items on their bellies while they move around. Teaching them to move around without those objects falling off will help them concentrate more on the activity and build the muscles around their stomachs.

Cycling

Cycling is always an exciting experience for kids and it can be done outside or indoors if you have a very big house. This activity can be done with other kids in the neighborhood for better fun. Cycling improves the motor coordination of the kids and helps the muscles of their legs grow stronger as the children grow. It is also known to improve sleep, especially deep sleep which is necessary to rejuvenate the entire body system. Riding bicycles outside helps the child appreciate the nature around too and it boosts the mood, providing a happier feeling.

Just don’t forget that in order to make your child's biking experience safer and more fun, you have to get the proper biking gear essential!

Gardening activities

This is another fun activity that the kids at home can indulge in. It involves a lot of physical activity from sending them on errands to teaching them how to tend to the garden. Things like weeding, planting, making ridges, and the like are some of the activities in a garden. When you plant seeds with the kids and keep going to check on the seeds from time to time until they grow fully and produce fruits, you are giving them an unforgettable and exciting experience. It will make them appreciate nature more. In case you live in an apartment, you could bring nature home. This is easily done by using LED grow lights that mimic sunlight and help grow indoor plants. These activities help them get fit and build their immune systems against diseases. Regular exposure to the dirt in the garden and taking a good shower later will enable the body system to get accustomed to fighting off germs. The resilience grows till adulthood making their immune system very fortified against diseases.

Dancing

School kids always love to dance either to music playing or their own mouthed piece. Dancing involves the use of every part of your body to move in rhyme with whatever music is playing. To make it more fun for the kids, you can organize a dancing competition and be the judge. Make videos of the dancing so you can all watch them in the future. In addition to all these fun activities, dancing helps improve the children’s motor coordination. It also plays a vital role in ensuring that the heart works better with more efficiency in pumping blood to the rest of the body. This will ensure that there is enough oxygen for the body’s use in manufacturing energy.

Running

Running is another fun activity kids love to indulge in. It should however be monitored by their parents or at least an adult to make sure it is done safely. This physical activity helps the muscles have more endurance and also strengthens the bones. It helps prevent a child from being overweight as the heat and energy produced during running activities help burn excess fat in the body system. This form of exercise can be made more fun when you organize competitions for them and make them even do relay races.

Squats

Squats help kids to build their endurance, self-confidence, and strength. Most kids find this exercise to be super fun. The up and down motion with your hands stretched out helps to build the muscles around your thighs and calf. It helps strengthen your bones and frees the joints connecting the parts of your body that move during this exercise. Doing squats helps with deep sleeping after the exercise.

Final word

The importance of exercises for children can not be overemphasized. So many kids are unhealthy today because they didn’t grow up appreciating the need to always be on the move. Some of them are overweight at young ages and are even finding it discomforting. If you need your child to be fit, healthy, and smart amongst other benefits, you need to encourage him or her to take to exercises.
