Ways Parents Can Surprise Their Child With a Trip

What better way to spend time together and relax than going on a family trip? It’s exhilarating for the kids and a great way to destress after a long work period. So how do you go about telling them you’re planning a family vacation? You want to get them excited.

So you decide to surprise them and keep them in the dark until you’re closer to your vacation date. You could start thinking of making it a memorable experience, but don’t stress too much about it. Here are a few ways parents can surprise their child with a trip.

Play a Treasure Hunt

As you finish planning your secret trip with your family, take a few days to set up a fun treasure hunt with your children. Obtain the supplies you need and start plotting out places for them to stop during their quest to keep them excited. It’s one of the most fun ways parents can surprise their children with a trip.

Make it simple enough to keep your children from getting lost and challenging enough to get their mental cogs churning. The treasure hunt can remain in your home, or you can even go out in public to play. Try the local park or take it out into the neighborhood to get the kids moving.

Announce It During Game Night

If you have a weekly game night at home, make your big announcement there. They won’t suspect anything out of the ordinary and still enjoy the game night with the family. Whether you play board games, video games, or card games, weaving in your trip announcement is a piece of cake.

You can make custom cards with written hints on each card for the children to guess the announcement, or you can even create an original game around questions and answers to get their brains going. You can also reward their win at the end of game night with a toy from their favorite show with a written note announcing the trip. It’s easy and offers so many ideas to try!

Hit Them With a Twist

Perhaps you want to surprise the whole family versus just the children. So why not just go about your day like normal then announce it when they least expect it? Perhaps you can pretend that you have a work trip to take them on and announce on the way that you’re going on vacation instead.

Just make sure that you announce the trip with enough time that everyone can pack if you plan on leaving that day. It will take a lot of tricky work, but your family will not expect it and remember it forever. So think of a plan to keep them from being suspicious and good luck.

Family vacations are a great time to create memories and enjoy each other’s company. So enjoy surprising everyone with a fun trip; they’ll thank you for it!
