Inside the creative world of park structures
We all want to promote healthy, inspired, well-rounded children, and it only makes sense that to accomplish this goal, a quality play environment must offer a well-rounded selection of play opportunities. To accomplish this, first seek out an innovative, well-rounded playground manufacturer that has the versatility and product selection to design a play structure at a cost that fits your organization’s budget.
For nearly 30 years, Park Structures has made great advancements in its mission to design and manufacture the highest quality playground products at competitive prices. A significant advancement for the company took place in 2003 when Park Structures became part of PlayCore, an industry leader in both commercial and consumer playground equipment products. As a result, Park Structures continues to create innovative, exciting products that are fun, healthy, and educational for children. Its products are designed to engage a child’s curiosity while encouraging interaction with peers in challenging and creative environments.
What’s the secret to Park Structures’ success? Much of it has to do with a strong focus on creating products that address the developmental aspects and value of play for children. The variety of activities and designs that exist among their five core product lines seek to accommodate children’s play interests for all age groups.
The flagship system of the Park Structures lineup is the SuperMax play system series. For toughness and features, this is the crème de la crème of full-size playground equipment. It offers all the coolest components, design and accessibility options imaginable to create the perfect play setting. The five-inch diameter posts (considered the industry's largest) are available in either 11-gauge steel or thick-wall aluminum. The 11-gauge punched decks are spacious four-by-four feet to handle the biggest crowds and the heaviest loads.
While SuperMax offers systems that can be utilized on the grandest of scales, Park Structures can also squeeze bigger play value into smaller spaces. Enter DuraMax. This system offers three-foot decks and 3 ?-inch post diameters. DuraMax offers all the quality and integrity of the larger SuperMax system but for a smaller area, which really packs in the events and maximizes play value.
Park Structures also has a product line that foregoes the decks (as well as some of the posts) and emphasizes more focus on the free flow of climbing and activities that promote coordination. Playmax play systems offer this platform as a tool to encourage children to improve on various physical skill sets and meet the challenges of dynamic motion. The PlayMax units are all rated with a Fitness Factor to let users and supervisors know how much activity potential exists on each system.
Offerings also abound for the “entry level” of playground enjoyment, thanks to the MiniMax 2 3/8-inch Post Playing Systems. These feature-packed environments bring a world of imagination to life for users on the front end of early childhood development. The systems feature colorful decks, panels, slides and a wide array of activities to promote creative play, as well as social and cognitive development. Age-appropriate handholds, grips and deck heights are incorporated into pre-configured units, or, if you prefer it, a custom MiniMax unit can be designed specifically to your needs.
Another early childhood development line to consider is the selection of Caravan Free-standing Play Systems. Sporting whimsical shapes, bright colors, quality materials, safe play spaces, low maintenance and fun components, this line offers durable .850" thick plastic and vandal resistant fasteners for long-lasting fun. The Caravan line is unlike any other in the playground industry with its early childhood offering of both themed and non-themed activities for the youngest users. Imaginations expand, as children become the captain of a ship or the pilot of their own flight jet while utilizing the creative products of Park Structures Caravan!
Does all of that sound well rounded enough to pique your interest? From its original designs of nearly three decades ago, this company has added numerous offerings to its pallet of play system designs and components. It’s certainly worth your consideration.
While bringing creative products to market that are both challenging and beneficial to a child’s development, Park Structures maintains a commitment to safety in every component and structure design. In addition to their safety standards, Park Structures also offers a wide range of safety surfacing products. The certified SurfaceMax lineup ranges from bonded rubber to engineered wood fiber, shredded rubber, poured rubber, and tile.
Noted for its excellent impact attenuation and durability of the elements, bonded rubber represents some of the latest advancements in the field of playground surfacing. Bonded rubber is a seamless surface made of recycled rubber tires and is generally less expensive than other seamless surface products. Park Structures bonded rubber surfacing is offered in three-color combinations: Rustic (Red and Brown), Jungle (Red, Brown, Gold) and Tri-Color (Green, Gold, Red).
The SurfaceMax Engineered Wood Fiber is specifically designed and engineered for shock attenuation on playground surfaces and carries a ten-year limited warranty for the ASTM standard. When installed by a certified installer, it meets the ASTM standard specification for determination of accessibility of surface systems for playgrounds.
Park Structure’s shredded rubber surfacing provides a virtually indestructible, ADA accessible alternative to traditional materials. It’s clean, easy to install and is virtually maintenance-free. This option comes in six non-toxic colors that won’t rub off onto kids or their clothes.
The poured-rubber surfacing is made from recycled materials and is available in thicknesses from 1-1/2 to 4 1/2 inches. The surface layer can be specified in one or a combination of 16 colors, and the impact layer provides maximum attenuation for safety. (Comes complete with professional installation.)
SurfaceMax also features premium tile surfacing. This is a durable and remarkably resilient recycled rubber granular surface. The tiles are available in 2-1/4 and 3 3/4-inch thicknesses in solid and multicolored tiles to coordinate with your project. (ADA accessible ramp tiles, as well as other custom edge options, can be included.)
