Take More Photos of Your Kids This Summer

There are plenty of reasons why you should take lots of photos of your kids at any time of year, but during the summer months, there are even more reasons why you should get that camera (or camera phone!) out and start snapping!

Clearer photos

Believe it or not, you’re actually far less likely to end up with blurry photos during the summer. One of the most important factors to consider when capturing beautifully clear photos is the amount light of you have to work with. The brighter the light, the better your shutter will be able to stop the motion. We all know that kids are a bundle of energy, which often prevents them from holding still for your photos. Taking photos of your kids outdoors at this time of year will allow your camera to capture each shot more quickly, and stop any blurring that could otherwise be caused by super active kids.

The light is beautiful

During the summer, the natural light is much warmer and softer than any other time of year. A warm color temperature means more of the blue wavelengths are scattered, and so the light naturally looks more red and yellow. Warmer tones work beautifully with the soft, dewy skin our children are naturally blessed with. Cloudlight Studios know all about great light!

And of course, your beautiful young models will need some baby clothes to wear so consider your color palette and avoid kid’s clothing with logos or that are too ‘busy’ looking – it’s really distracting in a photo.

School’s Out!

Whilst your kids are in school, you can be limited in the variation of your photos. Your photographic opportunities will generally be at home, school, or the odd weekend trip. Whilst the kids have their days free, take them out on a whole range of different adventures and capture their childhood in a variety of environments. Going to the beach or on a trek through the woods are a couple of fab ideas that will give you beautiful photoshoot locations. Don’t forget that trips to visit family and friends will also give you plenty of opportunities to take photos of your children with the loved ones they might not get to see on a regular basis. Preserving the memories of time spent with family is a wonderful thing for your kids to look back on.

When the summer is over, you and your kids will so enjoy looking at all of the precious moments you’ve captured on camera.
