What type of surfacing is best?

Will aquatic play structures work in my area?

Where do I start?

You don’t need a crystal ball to answer these questions or any others you might have concerning the playground industry. You’ve got the greatest shopping tool in your hand right now, the Today’s Playground Buyer’s Guide.

Last year we introduced our first buyer’s guide, but we feel we may have left you hanging. The philosophy, “Leave them wanting more” works great if you’re a comedian, but not when you’re responsible for producing the ultimate buyer’s guide. Our goal this year is to create the best source in the industry for those looking to make a playground purchase and I believe we have. This guide has everything that you’ll need to get started today.

There are many more questions that may run through your head. All playgrounds are the same right? One type of playground should be good for all situations, right? If you believe this, then you may be as confused as a puppy with two tails.

This line of logic makes no sense at all, yet some people truly believe that all systems are the same. If you’re new to this industry, it’s okay. We’ll help you get over that learning curve. If you’re a regular to the playground market then you should be aware of the many different varieties that are available. That’s what actually makes this industry so great. There aren’t just one or two manufacturers that build unique playgrounds; the market is filled with great companies.

Maybe you think you want a playground, but in reality, an aquatic play structure would work better for you. We’ve broken down our guide into sections to help you make the right choice. From playground equipment to surfing to aquatic playgrounds, we’ve got you covered. The biographies in these sections will help you understand which manufacturers out there can really help you. Plus we included a list of playground consultants and organizations that can get you started in the right direction.

Whether you are planning to build an entirely new play system or simply upgrade your existing structure, you’re sure to find the information you need in these pages. Every child deserves the best playground with the best opportunities to grow physically, mentally and emotionally. This guide will point you in the right direction so you can provide those opportunities to kids in your community.

When it comes time to make important decisions on the ‘who,’ ‘what,’ ‘when,’ ‘where,’ ‘why,’ and ‘how’s,’ of playground construction, there are no better resources than the companies found in this guide.

Call them. Visit their Web sites. Talk to them and tell them what you want. They can help you decide what options are best for you and your budget. These reputable companies have experience, expertise and are willing to work with you to design the ultimate play area. Don’t be afraid to ask.

But most of all, keep the children in mind. Find out what kinds of features they would like to see in a playground. Then work with the companies found in these pages to come up with the best possible play area. After all, the children are the reason you get Today’s Playground—don’t leave them out of the process.

We’re confident you will find valuable information in this Buyer’s Guide, but keep in mind, playgrounds are FUN and buying one should be a fun, exciting experience.

So look to the future and let the fun begin.
