Plan Your Workout Routine as a College Student

When you’re a college student, your life can get pretty chaotic. With all the assignments and hard work you have as a student, you can easily neglect your personal life and your health. This can seriously damage your life quality and cause you some additional stress or problems. This is why it’s very important that you find the time for yourself, and one of the healthiest habits you should build is exercising regularly.

But, without a firm workout routine, you won't be able to exercise on a regular basis and take care of your health. This is why we've put together this guide to help you plan your workouts and always find time for them.

Here are 6 great tips to plan your workout routine as a college student.

  1. Create a School Schedule

When you’re in college, your academic obligations are your number one priority. We understand that, but you cannot allow it to be your only preoccupation.

To be able to do anything else but studying, writing essays, and doing homework, you need to create a school schedule.

It will help you find the time for other activities, including working out.

Therefore, make sure to:

  • create a unique school calendar
  • write down all your deadlines
  • plan your study sessions
  • keep track of all your obligations

If you successfully create this study calendar, you’ll be able to find the time for other activates, including working out.

  1. Find the Best Time

Now that you’ve got your student schedule in control, it’s time to find the best time for working out. This will depend on your obligations as well as on your personal preferences.

So, try to decide the following:

  • when do you feel most energized
  • when do you have enough free time
  • when is it most convenient for you to workout

Think about your schedule, energy levels, motivation, and convenience. Combine all these factors to find the best time of day to fit your workout session.

This will ensure you always give it your best and never have a poor workout session that will drain you out completely.

  1. Find the Best Place

Now, there is also the question of where you plan on exercising and what type of workouts you will do. If you’ve never been much of a physically active person, it’s best that you try out different types of workouts to see what fits you best.

Here are some of our top choices:

  • weight lifting
  • full-body workouts at the gym
  • at-home workouts with YouTube videos
  • Pilates classes (in a group or home with videos)
  • low-impact workouts
  • gym classes

You could do on-campus, off-campus, or dorm workouts to ensure you’re staying fit and healthy. Test different options and find something you’ll truly enjoy doing.

  1. Start Small

When you decide that you want to be more active and workout regularly, you need to take baby steps if you want to succeed.

That means that you can’t expect to find the time for 6 workout sessions a week and become the most active person alive.

Instead, you need to start small:

  • plan 3 workouts a week
  • make them up to an hour-long
  • once you get more experienced, start increasing the number of workouts or the length

Build slowly to your workout goals, making sure you’re feeling comfortable with each step in the process.

  1. Plan Ahead

When you're setting up a workout routine, it's very important that you always plan your day ahead and be prepared to work out at the desired time.

So, if you plan on going to the gym after your classes, make sure to plan ahead in order to:

  • bring your exercise equipment to class
  • have a wholesome meal at least an hour before the workout
  • plan what to do after the workout to know what to bring with you

It could be a bit tricky at first, but you’ll quickly get used to all the planning and organizational tricks.

If you manage to stay well-organized and prepared, there won’t be a problem.

  1. Create Your Own Workouts

Another thing you could to improve your workout sessions is to create your own workout plans and decide how to exercise.

To make sure you’re doing your best, you’ll need to:

  • set a clear goal such as lose weight, build muscle, tone up, or something else
  • decide what type of exercises you need to do achieve your goal
  • decide whether or not you need some equipment
  • see what equipment you’ve got available on campus
  • write your workout plans

If you’re not so good at writing, you could always check out a essay writer free and see if they can help you with creating your workout plans.

Make sure to include different kinds of exercises, including all muscle groups, and find fitness bloggers and professionals to learn from.

Final Thoughts

Planning your workout routine as a student will require some great organizational skills, a lot of research, and a strong motivation to succeed. Make sure you stay focused on your workout goals and work hard on achieving them.

Use the tips we’ve shared above to plan your workout routine. Stick to your plan and keep working on your physical health and well-being.
