Staying Hydrated: The Importance of Water for Active Kids

Staying Hydrated: The Importance of Water for Active Kids

Children between the ages of one year and twelve years are often highly active. They live an active lifestyle running and jumping around, and they can easily spend most of their day doing so. As a parent or caregiver, one of the most important things to provide for an active child is water. Keeping them hydrated should be a priority, and you should choose water over fizzy drinks. This article explains five reasons why active children need to stay hydrated.

  1. Water boosts energy: Children need a lot of energy for the many activities they carry out during the day. Since water makes up 60 percent of the total body weight and 90 percent of the brain weight, hydrating makes sense. As parents or caregivers, you should ensure that your children have easy access to water so they can refuel their energy without the risk of any side effects. One way to purify the water provided for your children is by using a reverse osmosis water filter. Reverse osmosis is an effective filtration method that creates clean, excellent tasting water. They use many different methods to filter the water in your house, faucet, and restaurant.  This ensures that your child is drinking the best water. Water boosts energy, delivers essential nutrients to all of the cells in the human body, especially muscle cells, and postpones muscle fatigue in children.
  1. Water helps replace the loss of water through the skin: Hydration has been associated with energy levels and physical endurance, as well as concentration and focus. To enable our children to get the most out of every day, staying hydrated is, therefore, both logical and essential for a balanced mood and your child's more comprehensive health. Children have physiological specificities in water balance. Their kidney function matures fully at two years, and since there is a higher body surface-to-body mass ratio, they lose water through their skin. For this reason, they have higher water requirements when compared to adults.
  1. Water aids in digestion: In small children, water is necessary for digestion. It prevents your child from digestive or abdominal issues like constipation. Water helps to move the digestion process along in the system of a human being. You should give your child water during and after meals. Water is needed to maintain good health. It breaks down food so that your body can absorb nutrients. It softens stool, protects your stomach, and ensures proper bowel movement.
  1. Detoxification: Water does not only boosts energy and aids digestion. It is also perfect for detoxification. It moves toxins through your system faster and optimizes kidney function. Inadequate hydration means inadequate kidney function. The human body is 60% water and requires this vital fluid to function properly. Water not only flushes waste and toxins out of the body but also carries nutrients to cells and tissues. One particular system that relies heavily on water to flush out waste is the kidney system. Water aids the detoxification system of the human body. It helps them remove waste products from the blood.
  1. The skin is hydrated by water: Water is necessary to help the skin look well. All the expensive soaps and creams will do no good if you do not drink water. It is also the best defense against aging and wrinkles in the skin. The standard is eight glasses of water a day. If you are vulnerable, you should increase your intake of water. This will make up for the water that is lost through various means. Water is your ally when it comes to maintaining good health. Your kids will always look bright and glow brilliantly because they are given the right amount of water for their skin.

As parents, once you know the importance of water in the life of your child or children, you should prioritize the drinking of water. Getting water bottles for your children to take water with them when in school or participating in any co-curricular activity is a great strategy. Providing a glass of water to be placed close to their bed is a good strategy. In this way, they will take water when they sleep and take water when they rise at dawn.
